Training
SafetyBase is a serious business system, so you will receive good training. We want you to get the best out of it. You start off with online sessions for as long as you like, which gradually merges into casual helpdesk enquiries. We’re always available.
Smart phone reporting
With super-simplified smart phone functions, everyone in your organisation will be able to send reports of events, inspections and checks. Then, the reports are escalated to a person you choose.

We offer this internationally available safety management system based in New Zealand, so we have one big advantage: Our regional laws and standards have all been developed from a range of the best available global sources. How do improvements happen? We do them incrementally, and in a way that preserves your existing data’s relevance. As a cloud product, we release incremental improvements several times a year, mostly without fanfare. For significant changes, you receive update notes directly.
And when you buy SafetyBase, all this happens without you having to do anything or pay extra for the update.
It fits any organisation
We frequently get asked: “Does it work for “my” employment situation?” This question reflects an understandable belief that there are different safety systems for different employment activities. This isn’t really the case.
Lawmakers don’t issue a health and safety statute for different industries. And health and safety codes and standards don’t come in different versions either. So the broad requirements are the same for all.
SafetyBase health and safety management system is a great set of tools for any employment situation.
Customisations
For some employment situations, you need customised data collection formats. Prices and options are above. Some employers have very particular requirements about what data needs to be collected and processed. Our customisers ranged from a 90 employee timber and hardware outlet to a nationwide not-for-profit association with 1,000 workers!
That’s why we have prices & options available for clients who want to mix it up a bit. Even if you opt for the generic Essentials or Professional editions, we still have a growing array of “library” file types available. These can be added in at the client level, so just ask!
Freedom
If you want the freedom to develop file formats specific to your needs and activities, you need Enterprise Edition. Very easily, we can build in pretty much whatever you want, for a very low price. And our developers were very smart! Your new or improved customisation immediately works with all other functions like the reporting function. No other costs apart from the changes you needed.

Safety Advice

From the outset, we knew that unless we supported our product, people would not get the best from it. And we prefer our customers saying happy things.
Our Helpdesk support is included in your monthly fee. And we even give general safety advice as long as it’s verbal. That’s because SafetyBase was created by safety experts instructing IT people, not the other way around. We know what we’re talking about.
The vehicle
SafetyBase was created using open source software on a LAMP platform.
The hosting
We host it currently in Central Auckland, on a VPS server provided by Site Host.
The security
There are daily server backups and two primary Site Host co-location facilities. Data is encrypted and backed up hourly to Amazon S3.
The reliability
Uptime and response time monitoring is by Pingdom and routine penetration testing by Insomnia.
